On Saturday, 30 May 2026, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Singapore (MSSS) hosted its flagship World MS Day 2026 event at Punggol Regional Library. Themed “Navigating MS Together”, the event brought together the MS community, healthcare professionals, partners and the general public for a truly memorable day.

We are thrilled to share that the event welcomed close to 4000+ visitors, including many young families and children, making it one of our most successful events to date.
A Day of Hands-On Discovery

Visitors of all ages got a first-hand glimpse into the world of Multiple Sclerosis through our interactive booths. From balance and coordination challenges to cognitive tasks and myth-busting activities, participants walked away with a deeper understanding of what it means to live with MS every day. The energy and curiosity on the ground was truly heartwarming.
Guest of Honour: Ms Rahayu Mahzam

We were deeply honoured to welcome Ms Rahayu Mahzam, Minister of State for the Ministry of Digital Development and Information and Ministry of Health, as our Guest of Honour. Her presence and encouragement meant a great deal to our MS Warriors and the entire community. Her visit was a powerful reminder that MS advocacy in Singapore is being heard at the highest levels.
Living Forward: Panel Discussion

The panel session of the world MS Day event on 30May started with a brief introduction to MS by Dr. Wai Dic followed by an uplifting discussion on ‘Redefining what is possible with MS’. During the session, we heard stories of strength, resilience and the sheer grit of people living with MS as well as their caregivers. We talked about moving from a fear-based narrative to one of purpose and living meaningfully. MS warriors Anita and Beatrice spoke about how MS has shaped their identities, impacted work and relationships and how they continue to find meaning and live fulfilling lives despite challenges. Desmond, who is a caregiver shared how through MSSS and the MS warriors’ group, they found a sense of community and belonging and how the connections they made make them feel less alone. We also heard the clinical perspective from Dr. Derek Soon who spoke about a what has changed in the MS landscape over the years and how ‘possible’ looks a lot different today. The session was moderated by Surabhi, secretary of MSSS and an MS patient herself who shared moments form her own MS journey and how it has taught her to adapt to a life with MS with courage.
The Little Brain’s Big Journey: Skit by NNI

Dr Yeo Tianrong and the nurses from the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) delivered a delightful and educational skit for children, “Understanding MS: The Little Brain’s Big Journey.” Performed in three acts, the skit explained how the brain works, what happens in MS, and the role of treatment, all in a fun and age-appropriate way that had the children thoroughly engaged.
Storytelling: Building Empathy from a Young Age

During the storytelling session, children participated in a heartwarming reading of two specially chosen books, “Just Ask” and “A Kids Book About Disability.” The session was led by MS Warriors Mr Alexander and Ms Ambiga, and caregiver Ms Elizabeth. Through these stories, children were introduced to the concepts of visible and invisible disabilities in a gentle and inclusive way. Children actively shared their reflections and key takeaways, demonstrating a level of empathy and curiosity that gave us tremendous hope for the future.
Our Wonderful Volunteers
None of this would have been possible without our incredible volunteers. A special shoutout to the student volunteers from Bedok View Secondary School, colleagues from UBS, and the friends and families of our MS Warriors who gave their time and energy so generously. You made the day run smoothly and your presence made every visitor feel welcomed.
